Indian Film Festival in Stuttgart from July 16 to 20, 2008

The Indian cinema has conquered the world and has also found its way to Stuttgart, the headquarters of Mercedes Benz, Porsche and Bosch. As a result of the 40 years of town twinning between the Indian film metropolis Mumbai and Stuttgart, the Indian Film Festival ‘Bollywood and beyond’ was born in 2004. Therefore Stuttgart is not only an important centre for the intercultural dialogue between the two nations, but also an important economic centre point.

In many countries culture, economy and politics are linked and also influence each other as they shape the actions of the people. To work in another country successfully first of all means to understand the culture of the country. The organizers of the Indian Film Festival ‘Bollywood and beyond’ have made this bridging as they host the ‘Bollywood and beyond’ festival at the same time as the ‘Indo-German Business Forum’ and thereby offer the participants of both events the possibility to gain insight in the respectively other sector. What appears to be foreign and incompatible turns out to be just another aspect of our lives, as both receive motion and soul through the people.
