A. Economy

Work continues to strengthen Ohio’s economy
July 27, 2010

Like in all the businesses and households across the US, the recession had its impact on Ohio as well and the state is working towards combating its effects. For this, Ohio has created many lucrative deals for companies like keeping Ohio’s taxes low, providing incentives for businesses to create new jobs and investing in the high growth, high-tech industries of tomorrow.

Over the past four years the state income tax of Ohio has been reduced by 16.8 %. Moreover, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council has certified Ohio best in the Midwest and 11th nationally for small business. Ohio is now one of two states that do not tax a business’ personal property or its corporate profits.

The efforts to strengthen Ohio’s economy have enhanced further job-creation initiatives and these efforts are keys to ensuring a brighter future for the state.

July 13, 2010

In June, Ohio Third Frontier awarded Lanx US$ 1 million for its Lumbar Motion Monitor Commercialization project. Lanx, currently located in Broomfield, Colorado, will form a new Ohio-based division located in Columbus, Ohio to finalize the design and commercialization of a device to measure range of lumbar motion in patients with back injuries.

Ohio Third Frontier, and the strategic investments made by the program to bolster Ohio's biomedical imaging industry, serve as a national model for success and are the primary reason behind Ohio's position as a national hub for innovation and opportunity in the thriving biomedical industry.
